There really is nothing fancy about either it or the fact that it is so simple. Everyone absolutely loves this simple yet delicious salad, which is why it’s such a favorite.
To make this dish, all you need is a bowl of mixed greens, a sliced red onion, some red bell pepper, and a handful of chopped, finely chopped iceberg lettuce. In fact, if you can’t find any of these ingredients in your local grocery store, you can always substitute them for items from your pantry, such as finely chopped baby carrots. Other greens that work well with this meal are Swiss chard, red onions, and romaine lettuce. The key to a tasty green salad is using a lot of lettuce; however, don’t use too much! Keep the lettuce to a minimum and you will achieve the flavors you want in this dish.
For this recipe, I like to add a small handful of croutons for a little crunch and a little bite. This makes a delicious lunch time snack, or even an easy dinner. A green smoothie is also a great idea to cool off the meal and get rid of the excess calories in it. You can add any type of protein to the smoothie, whether it be chicken beef, or fish.
